If you have the Rogers Magic (like me), make sure you grab some different download files. For the recover image, you'll need a special Rogers 32A recovery image (read that whole article).

I rooted my Rogers Dream a bit differently. I used the flashrec program, which installs the CM 1.4 recovery image even on the Rogers Dream. My writeup is here...

Google checkout works fine for Canadians, I have used it on several occasions to pay for items, so it's not that Google checkout is not supported in Canada.

I fear the only way rogers is ever going to support paid apps is if they have a financial incentive to do so. Since the number of Android phones is (apparently) small in Canada, I feel they have taken those whom were employed to support us and moved them to support the other more financially viable phones.

Unless we make it financially in their best interest to do so, we may never get paid apps. Anyone here a lawyer, who is experiences in civil suits? There is nothing like a good class action civil lawsuit to make a company sit up and pay attention.

I have a rooted phone, and I still can't install paid apps. How do I do that?

I keep coming across apps that I want to install, such as "Better Keyboard" or AHome, but can't because they are paid apps. Yet all the skins are free and are filling the app market. Maybe they should block all these skins as all they do is want me to root my phone that much more, though I'm just not sure if I should take that leap or not yet.

I've heard that it is because Google Checkout is not fully supportive in Canada.

I have myself a ROGERS DREAM, but i am kinda disappointed that we can't buy apps yet.
